Tattoo designs are often not original drawings. Instead, tattoo shop owners have large books or catalogues of drawings, often called "Flash", that people can choose from when they don't bring in an original design or don't know what tattoo they want.
ANYWAY, so people with lots of tattoos end up with arms or backs or legs full of a lot of small, unoriginal tattoos that create larger ORIGINAL designs when they're all put together. One big original artwork, kind of the ultimate self-portrait. YOUR JOB is to create a tattoo design for yourself by combining 15 images of individual tattoo design drawings (outline drawings only) into one large original tattoo design. IMAGINE that it is your own self portrait... your life, family, loves, hates, etc. Begin by creating a new image in Pixlr measuring 2200 x 2200 px When you are done putting the design together, color it completely in Pixlr. No white spaces. White ink in tattoos can be very difficult to do. Happy Inking! Oh, one more thing... DON'T USE ANY TRIBAL DESIGNS OR OTHER THINGS THAT ARE ALREADY A SOLID COLOR. If you are not familiar with tribal designs, there are examples below. sat·ire
/ˈsaˌtī(ə)r/ noun The use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. Please do the following: 1 Choose a real corporation, company or business. 2 Choose a real product or service that the corporation, company or business sells. 3 In Pixlr, make a New Image measuring 1700 (WIDE) X 2200 (TALL). Create a satirical advertisement for that product or service, something that you might see in a magazine, on the side of a bus, on a billboard or on a website. Requirements: * Be able to describe, in writing, what you were making fun of and why you chose the images you used. I will give you the details of the actual writing assignment when we're done. * At this point in the class, I am expecting your digital editing to be done with skill and care. Do good work. You're real goal is to make this thing look REAL. * Create your advertisement entirely from separate, unrelated images. Everything in it, the objects, the words and the background should come from different images. MAKE SURE to save all of the images you use, unedited, in a separate file. Oh, and no iPhone or iPad advertisements. It's been done. Your goal for this assignment is simple. Put a new face on something that already has a face.
Or actually, put new faces on four (4) things that already have faces. Choose an image of something ine each of the following four categories: - A Famous or Large-Scale Landmark. Examples could include Mount Rushmore, the Statue of Liberty, the Lincoln Memorial, the Egyptian Sphinx, etc. Think big! Do a couple of searches online if you can't think of anything. Definitely don't be limited to any of the examples I just gave. - A Famous Work of Art. DO NOT put a face from a real photo of a real person into another real photo of a real person. Yes, certainly photography is an art form. But change the face from a drawing, painting or sculpture for this one. - Money or some other kind of Currency. Could be paper money or coins. - Your Choice. Something Else with a Face. An example would be my "Trump Card" below. In Pixlr, these are the settings/tools you should adjust/use are: Under Adjustments: 1 Brightness and Contrast. How much difference is there between the highlights and shadows? 2 Hue and Saturation and Color Balance. You can use either of these to make the colors warmer (red-ish or yellow-ish colors or cooler (blue-ish colors). Use the Saturation setting to make a color more or less vibrant or strong. 3 Clone Stamp. Use it to "borrow" little samples of the actual textures and colors from one object to add directly to another. Check out our YouTube tutorials on Clone Stamping if you need a refresher on how to Clone Stamp. Search "landonartclasses" in YouTube. Use your very best editing skills. Your finished images should look real. Whether it's a stone statue or a playing card, you have to make the new face look like it belongs there. Think about texture and color. The Clone Stamp tool will be one of the best things to use. My little teacher examples are below. Design the pages for an imaginary website about an imaginary business you create. The website is all about the business that is your career, so it has to be something you do to make money, earn a living.
Inform people what you do, what you sell or what service you perform AND why it is that they should choose you. Make your site interesting, exciting, attractive. You have to get people's attention., info buttons/links and so on. It should not be an actual website, but images put together showing what the website will look like. Use Pixlr, Gimp, Sumo, Photoshop or whatever raster photo program you've been using. Remember, the assignment is to create dummy pages, Your images are only intended to have the appearance of real web pages. Be creative. Choose interesting photos, fonts, colors. etc. Do some research online. Look at website pages designed by professional graphic artists. Each of your pages are to be 1700 px (height) x 2200 px (width) The pages you must design are as follows: 1. Home Page 2. Bio Page (A brief history of you and/or your company) 3. A Gallery Page of 12 Photos (Just the "Thumbnail" photos, the small ones you would click to see the actual photo) 4. Contact Page 5. A Specialty Page of your choice (perhaps a page to buy merch or something... once again, be creative) My little teacher examples below are screenshots from one of my own websites. Choose one of the assignments listed below and do it again... better. Assignment #4 "Strange Birds..." Assignment #6 "Magazine Cover" Assignment #7 ("Final Project for the Grading Period") "Movie Poster" Assignment #8 "Design a Creative Alphabet" Assignment #10 "Life in these United States" (if you choose this one, all of the images you use for your states must be PHOTOGRAPHS of REAL THINGS. No cartoons, logos or drawings of any kind) Assignment #12 "Advanced Digital Coloring" The entire point of this assignment is to show growth on your part. Show that you have become more knowledgeable and skilled. Choose your re-do assignment and complete it. Better. PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO GIVE ME BOTH THE ORIGINAL VERSION AND THE NEW VERSION ON YOUR FLASH DRIVE WHEN YOU TURN THIS IN FOR GRADING. AAAAANNNNNDDD, This new work must be completely different from the old one. You are doing the assignment in a whole new way. From scratch. You may not use any images from your original assignment. |
