And now for the REAL digital coloring assignment...
The links below connect to different line drawings. Examine each of them. If clicking on the link does not take you directly to the image, copy and paste it into the address bar in your browser. After having looked at each of them, select one and save it. You will need the original, unedited, black-line drawing to submit to me later. Open the saved image in either Pixlr, Sumo or Photoshop. I do recommend Pixlr over Sumopaint because it has fewer glitches and is a lot less likely to crash. COLOR THE IMAGE COMPLETELY USING ONLY GRADIENTS (THE GRADIENT TOOL CREATES AN AREA WITH ONE COLOR FADING TO ANOTHER). SO ALL OF THE SPACES MUST HAVE ONE COLOR FADING TO ANOTHER COLOR. IF YOU HAVE ANY DIFFICULTY USING THE GRADIENT TOOL, LOOK FOR VIDEO TUTORIALS BY SEARCHING A PHRASE LIKE "USING GRADIENT TOOL IN PIXLR". THERE ARE EXCELLENT TUTORIALS ON YOUTUBE. When you're done, save your work in several different file formats. I recommend .png, .jpg, AND .pdf versions. Once you've saved them, try opening them again to make sure the file saved properly. When you submit this assignment for grading on your flash drive, you will have to save both the original unedited black-line image AND your colored version. This assignment will not be graded if you do not do so. The maze is drawn in a square or rectangular format 2. The maze consists of angular turns (any angle, just no curves) 3. The maze includes the solution drawn with a line 4. The maze walls, the maze background and the solution line are different from each other in color 5. The solution to the maze has at least 100 turns As long as your maze meets the above criteria, please feel free to be as creative as possible. For instance, perhaps your maze contains hidden shapes or words within it's twists and turns; or maybe the solution line spells your name, etc. Even though the requirements are very specific, there's still room for a little creative expression. Please see the examples below. They're both a little plain in appearance, but challenging never the less! Find an image online of a blank US map. I strongly recommend an image that is larger than 1000 pixels on all sides. Open it in Pixlr. (I found two maps that you might consider using. You can use the following links if you want to check them out:
blank-states-map11.png Blank_US_Map.svg_.png Choose photos that, in YOUR opinion represent each state... images that symbolizes each state. You may have to do a little online research for information about states you are unfamiliar with. Fill in your blank map with the images you've chosen for each state, trimming them to fit neatly in the spaces. This will be your final evaluation of your skills at photo editing and compositing. Do good work :) PS... Sorry I didn't finish my example below. There is a good reason for it. |
