OK kiddos... This is it. The big project for the nine weeks. This is when you show me what you've learned.
Your project is this: MOVIE POSTER Design a movie poster for an horror movie (that you make up) based upon YOUR GREATEST FEAR. REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT ARE AS FOLLOWS: 1. The completed project is 1400 (width) x 2000 (height) Pixels. 2. The completed project is composed of 20 other different photo images. 3. The design is similar in appearance to a professional movie poster. 4. All photo editing is to be done using Pixlr or Photoshop. 5. All text or typesetting is to be done using Inkscape. 6. All photo editing and typesetting are to be done skillfully and with care. 7. The 1400 x 2000 px space is filled and the design is visually interesting. 8. The completed project is submitted with a collage of all 20 images used. 9. The completed project is submitted NO LATER than October 9, 2018. Have fun with this one. And do good work! Create an idea for a FICTITIOUS MAGAZINE. The magazine's topic (what it's about) will be one of your own favorite activities, something you love to do. Design the cover for an issue of your magazine using an image of you doing that activity. You magazine cover must meet the following requirements: 1. Use your image as the main subject. It could be your entire body or just your head and shoulders. Either way, the image of you has to portray you doing the thing you're doing at a higher level or setting than real life. Possible Examples: * You're playing basketball but in an NBA game. * You're playing your violin but with a famous orchestra. * You are gardening but in front of a famous palace. * Etc. (In my example below, I put my own head on 11x surfing world champ Kelly Slater's body and modeled my magazine on real surfing magazines.) 2. Use both vector and raster editing. Use Pixlr, Gimp or Photoshop to manipulate your image. Use Inkscape to insert all of your typing and any lines, borders or geometric shapes. 3. Contain all of the elements of a real magazine cover. Do some research, look at some real magazine covers. 4. Must NOT be designed using any sort of template found online. Remember, this is a fictitious magazine. The cover must be a completely original design. 5. As usual, the quality of your editing, the creativity/originality of your design and how well you follow directions are the criteria upon which this assignment will be graded. ALSO...
As a part of this project, design five (5) variations of your magazine's masthead (the title on the front cover). Draw them in Inkscape and export the drawing as a .png file. See the earlier post on saving work in Inkscape and Pixlr if you need help doing this. The example of my masthead designs is below: "CARICATURE"A caricature is a portrait of someone that purposefully exaggerates that person's features, usually his or hers facial features. A caricature is most effective when, even though the features are exaggerated, it LOOKS REALISTICALLY LIKE the person. DIGITAL ARTISTS now have the capability to create extremely realistic caricatures using raster editors such as Photoshop and Pixlr. PROJECT #5 requires that you create a caricature of a famous person. Doing this will be made a lot easier if you choose a person who already has very unique or prominent features. Your caricature must meet the following criteria: 1. You exaggerate AT LEAST 4 of your subject's features 2. Your subject is OBVIOUSLY DISTORTED but EASILY RECOGNIZABLE in your finished project 3. Your photo editing and compositing is done with extreme care 4. Your subject is not Donald Trump... he has been caricatured to death Please be aware of the upcoming due dates:
