AS OF THE DATE OF THIS POST, STUDENTS WILL SUBMIT PROJECT WORK FOR GRADING BY FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS BELOW: 1. In PIXLR or INKSCAPE, insert your name, period and project number in the bottom right corner of the work in a color that can easily be seen. Save the file as a .jpg or .png file and name it only with your first and last initials and the number of the project. For instance, I would name my magazine cover (Project 6) below like this: DL6.png 1. On your class flash drive, create a folder named "DIGITAL ART PROJECTS". To create a new folder: - Open your flash drive using Window's "FILE EXPLORER". - When the flash drive has opened and you can see it's contents, RIGHT CLICK and select "NEW" and then select "FOLDER". 2. Save/Copy your work to the "DIGITAL ART PROJECTS" on your class flash drive. 3. On the due date(s), bring your flash drive to me during class so that I can copy your work to my computer. Please double check that your project and 'DIGITAL ART PROJECTS" folder are named correctly. Your work will not be graded if one or both of them are not. 1. In YouTube, Search "2017 Fall Workshops - Graphic Design"
2. Play Video 3. On your own sheet of paper (lined or not) and using either pencil or pen, write down a numbered list of 30 factual statements from the video. You will choose which facts to write down. They can be anything stated in the video but must be complete sentences and as close as possible to "word for word". They can be short or long statements, you decide. Write your chosen facts in a numbered list as follows: 1. Graphic design is... (write the complete statement of course) 2. Typesetting has to do with... etc., etc. These papers are due at the end of the period. BIG IDEA:
A very well-designed logo is visually appealing, contemporary (it looks current, as if it were designed recently... it looks stylish) and it, in some way, informs the viewer what the company, business, group or organization does. Using your initials (first, last and middle names) combined with a symbol (it could be an actual symbol like the Nike check or a mascot like the Twitter bird or the NBC Peacock) create five logos, one for each of the following businesses: 1. Food Production or Sales (such as Publix or Nabisco) 2. Technology Production or Sales (such as AT&T or Apple) 3. "Extreme/Action Sports" Clothing or Equipment Production (such as Quiksilver or North Face) 4. Band or Musical Artist (such as 50 Cent or The Rolling Stones) 5. A Business of Your Choice Your logos will be judged/evaluated based upon their visual appeal, including whether or not they are contemporary in appearance. Go out and look at the logos of today's major companies, businesses groups and organizations. The difference between a logo looking like it was designed in 2018 or 1975 has a lot to do with font choice and color. Below are some examples of successful contemporary logo designs... Design a Creative Alphabet
In Pixlr, Sumo or Photoshop, create a font using cut/copied and pasted pieces of digital photo images. Each letter must be designed using two or more objects (or pieces of objects) taken from different photos. You can use a single photo more than once for any single letter, but you need to use at least two different photos for each letter and you may not use the same photo for more than one letter. Create an uppercase and lowercase version of each letter. See the example below. I suggest creating a workspace measuring approximately 2400 (width) x 1200 (height) pixels in which to assemble and layout your alphabet. The due date for Assignment #7 "Movie Poster" has been moved to Friday, October 12th. I will be back in school then. If you plan to turn in any other assignments late, it must be done by Friday as well. NO WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, AFTER FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12th.
Also... PLEASE double-check your SENT email (check the "Sent" folder in your email account) to make sure that any and all assignments that you have already turned in were sent successfully to the correct email address. I have missed several days of school due to illness in the last week or so. Because of this, The due date for assignment #7 (The Movie Poster) is now Thursday, October 11th. Work is to be emailed no later than 5:00 pm.
PLEASE BE AWARE, no project work of any kind will be accepted after 3:00 pm on Friday, October 12th. Any work not submitted by this deadline will be recorded as "0" in the grade book. |
