Attention Students and Parents,
All student work that was submitted before or on Friday, December 6th has been graded and posted to Focus. GRADES OF "0" THAT HAVE RECENTLY BEEN ADDED TO FOCUS CAN BE THOUGHT OF AS "PLACEHOLDERS" FOR PROJECT GRADES FOR YET-TO-BE-GRADED WORK SUBMITTED LATE. HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE THAT GRADES, AS THEY STAND NOW, ARE AN ACCURATE PREVIEW OF WHAT NINE WEEKS FINAL GRADES WILL BE IN THE EVENT THAT STUDENTS DO NOT TURN IN FOR GRADING THE WORK IN QUESTION. I am currently in the process of grading work that was submitted late for grading, that is to say on or after Monday, December 9th. Grades for that work will be posted to Focus on or before Saturday, December 21. PARENTS, PLEASE NOTE, PROJECT GRADES ARE WORTH SIGNIFICANTLY MORE CREDIT THAN INDIVIDUAL DAILY STUDIO WORK GRADES. ONE OR MORE MISSING PROJECT GRADES WILL GREATLY AFFECT A STUDENT'S FINAL GRADE FOR THE NINE WEEK GRADING PERIOD. CONVERSELY, REPLACING "0's" WITH SUCCESSFULLY-SUBMITTED PROJECT GRADES WILL HAVE A DRAMATICALLY POSITIVE AFFECT TO THE NINE WEEKS' GRADE. ANY ASSIGNMENTS SUBMITTED FOR GRADING ON OR BEFORE THURSDAY, DECEMBER 20th will be accepted up until 6pm on Thursday, December 26th and are to be submitted via email to [email protected]. REGARDING GRADES OF "0" for DAILY STUDIO WORK GRADES for UNEXCUSED ABSENCES: A student with an Unexcused Absence will receive a grade of "0" for his or her DAILY STUDIO WORK GRADE (participation grade) for the date in question. Students are required to obtain a Readmit slip from the front office by bringing in a note of explanation from a parent, having it signed by all of his or her teachers and returning it to the front office to have absences designated as "EXCUSED" within official DCPS records.
